LESSON THREE HUNDRED THIRTY TWO

Fear binds the world. Forgiveness sets it free. 

Fear of God’s retribution for the crime of separation.  Look at how vindictive We are to each Other, and each Other is a Brother.  What if, though, all sense of guilt, to which You hold Yourself and Your Brothers, were just to vanish, gone as if it never happened?  Can You imagine that kind of freedom?  That’s the freedom forgiveness offers You.

¹ The ego makes illusions.  Such is its purpose, for that’s the motive of separation. Truth undoes its evil dreams by shining them away. Illumined by Its Light, what dreams can stay? Truth never makes attack. It merely is.  Good is the Nature of Reality.  And Truth’s Be-ing is always wholly Good. And by its presence is the mind recalled from fantasies, – that seem oh so very captivating – awaking to the Real.  Truth gently wakes You from Your interminable reverie. Wakes You to God’s ever-present Heaven. Forgiveness bids this presence enter in and take its rightful place within the mind. Without forgiveness is the mind in chains, believing in its own futility. Why do I so harp on this forgiveness?  After fear, grievance was the next to be experienced from the separation.  Someone else must be responsible for how I feel!  I’m not to blame! No, not I!  So it must be You! – Yet with forgiveness does the light shine through the dream of darkness, – Light dismissing all its ugly shadows – offering it hope and giving it the means to realize the freedom that is its inheritance.  Blessèd freedom, guilt and anger lightly blown away like dust; they’ve no permanence.

² We would not bind the world again today.  All of its unrest are cries for freedom. Fear holds it prisoner. And yet Your Love has given us the means to set it free.  When Love is Present, fear must disappear. For as the apostle said: Perfect Love casts out fear. Father, we would release it now. Gladly let it go for something that is very much better.  For as we offer freedom, it is given us. And we would not remain as prisoners while You hold out our freedom unto us.  We could not be that selfish or that foolish, binding Our Brothers, longing for still more time in the dream.  We can’t, … or can We?

What is the Ego?

The stranger and usurper You invented to hide the Son of God, replacing Him with an imaginary idol.  A miscreation that You revere and worship.

¹ The ego is idolatry- – worshiping itself – the sign of limited and separated self, born in a body, doomed to suffer and to end its life in death.  It’s blind to its own obvious insanity, sure its insane thoughts are normal.  The idea of Life dying makes perfect sense to the ego. It is the will that sees the Will of God as enemy and takes a form in which It is denied. The Will of God is but good for all, and thus ever-present. The ego wills good only for itself and never finds it. The ego is the “proof” that strength is weak and love is fearful, life is really death, and what opposes God alone is true.  Is it not obvious that the ego is insanity? Not to the insane.

² The ego is insane. In fear it stands beyond the Everywhere, apart from All, in separation from the Infinite. Or so it believes, yet its beliefs are those of lunacy. In its insanity it thinks it has become a victor over God Himself, – with delusions of grandeur it is rife; absolutely mad – and in its terrible autonomy, it “sees” the Will of God has been destroyed. (itself the victor; always center stage; madness unbounded) It dreams of punishment and trembles at the figures in its dreams, its enemies who seek to murder it before it can ensure its safety by attacking them.  Violent thoughts, often masked by a ‘smile’.  Don’t trust the ego, for its hatred also includes itself.

³ The Son of God is egoless. For S/He is the true Love of God revealed.  With purest Love S/He does adore Her Source and never leaves It. What can he know of madness and the death of God when he abides in Him?  As Truth, S/He does abide as God’s belovèd Presence What can he know of sorrow and of suffering when he lives in eternal joy? What can he know of fear and punishment, of sin and guilt, of hatred and attack when all there is surrounding him is everlasting peace, forever conflict-free and undisturbed in deepest silence and tranquility?  Son of God, wake up!  Why choose You dreaming?  You’re missing so much Love and happiness, clarity and peace.!

⁴ To know Reality is not to see the ego and its thoughts, its works, its acts, its laws and its beliefs, its dreams, its hopes, its plans for its salvation, and the cost belief in it entails. For it does take such endless conniving to split Your mind off from God, then to keep maintaining the split. In suffering, the price for faith in it is so immense that crucifixion of the Son of God is offered daily at its darkened shrine and blood must flow before the altar where its sickly followers prepare for death.  Truly Divinity is far preferable to playing at being ‘human’.

⁵ Yet will one lily of forgiveness – remember, I have but asked You for “a little willingness” – change the darkness into light, the altar to illusions to the shrine of Life Itself.  Infinite Radiance, pure happiness; gone is all sorrow, healed by Its pure joy.  And peace will be restored forever to the holy minds which God created as His Son, – You and You and You and You; every blessèd, belovèd One of You, You, You.  All are included! – His dwelling-place, His joy, His love, completely His, completely one with Him.  As thoughts people Mind, let but Divine qualities people thought: Life, Truth, Love, Spirit.

Start with living those; You’ll soon be happy!
