LESSON FIFTY THREE

Lesson 11 – Lesson 15

 

¹ Today we will review the following:

[11] My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world. From which I draw meaningless conclusions!

² Since the thoughts of which I am aware do not mean anything, the world which pictures them can have no meaning. Starting from 1 + 1 = 3 will not be teaching mathematics to me. What is producing this world is insane, and so is what it produces. A mistaken premise solves no problem correctly, yielding only more mistakes. It is a pointless exercise that is the basis of the whole human dreaming. On this rests the whole ego sense of ‘life’.  I hear You say that I need not despair. I am listening. Reality is not insane, and I have real thoughts as well as insane ones. I can therefore see a real world if I look to my real thoughts as my guide for seeing.  And You, dear Brother, are teaching all of Us the difference.  We are listening.

[12] I am upset because I see a meaningless world.

³ Insane thoughts are upsetting. They produce a world in which there is no order anywhere. Anything can happen, and it often does. Safety feels like trying to balance on a seesaw. This can’t be the plan of God! Only chaos rules a world which represents chaotic thinking, and chaos has no laws. I cannot live in peace in such a world. I am grateful that this world is not real and that I need not see it at all unless I choose to value it. And I do not choose to value what is totally insane and has no meaning. I see that to stay in this mental state of clarity about Reality takes much self-discipline. One must completely fast from thinking, being nourished only by Christ Guidance.

[13] A meaningless world engenders fear. 

There’s no solid ground to it, nowhere firm to stand securely. At best it’s slippery; at worst, quicksand.  Only in consciousness can peace be found. Thinking that there is an ‘out there’ is just pure insanity. For all is Mind that’s Infinite: Infinity Manifest; God’s Reality.

⁴ The totally insane engenders fear because it is completely undependable and offers no grounds for trust.  This is what We call the world.Nothing in madness is dependable. It holds out no safety and no hope. But such a world is not real. This world turns to less than dust, and it leaves nothing here to trust. I have given it the illusion of reality, and have suffered from my belief in it. Now I choose to withdraw this belief and place my trust in reality. I do not understand Reality as yet; just that my perception isn’t it. So will I cleave to God, sure that I will be enlightened. In choosing this, I will escape all the effects of the world of fear because I am acknowledging that it does not exist.

And My Be-ing knows that there is Something Real and wonderful; and It is right here.

[14] God did not create a meaningless world. For God is Meaning; in other words, all that is Good is (not has) Meaning Itself. For to be and to have are not the same. To have something is to be separate from it. To Be it is all-encompassing. God is not separate from His Meaning.

Therefore, I can understand What I am by my willingness to listen to God and Holy Spirit.

⁵ How can a meaningless world exist if God did not create it? No-brainer question, for it cannot be. That is clear to Me. God is only Good and rich with Meaning. He is the Source of all meaning, and everything that is real is in His Mind. The Mind that is God holds the Universe. This is where We live, and not in body. All is Mind made manifest as the entire Universe. It is in my mind too – and My mind in It! – because He created it with me. Why should I continue to suffer from the effects of my own insane thoughts when the perfection of creation is my home? Because I’ve chosen repeatedly for dream imperfection. Let me remember the power of my decision and recognize where I really abide.  For I can make a different choice; one for a much holier habitation. Not just holier, but far happier.

[15] My thoughts are images which I have made.

They come not from God; thus they aren’t real.  That is the good news.  The bad is that I’m addicted to them.  The good news is that the Lessons can be Thinkers Anonymous; the bad new is if You don’t use them.

⁶ Whatever I see reflects my thoughts. The ego believes it sees and then it thinks. Christ is telling You that You think first and only then You see. It is my thoughts which tell me where I am and what I am. Indeed Sun~Rose, that is how You and Annie changed the weather back in the seventies. This is what is going on right now with the snow: it pleases the skiers.  And their wishes are not enough specific. Annoying to most, and quite minor to: The fact that I see a world in which there is suffering and loss and death shows me that I am seeing only the representation of my insane thoughts and am not allowing my real thoughts to cast their beneficent light on what I see.  Even though I’m not yet being the blessing that I can be: Yet God’s way is sure. And I’m willing to correct my thinking. The images I have made cannot prevail against Him because it is not my will that they do so. My will is His, and I will place no other gods before Him.  I am – right now – letting go my allegiance to the ego.
