LESSON TWO HUNDRED-FORTY ONE

This holy instant is salvation come.

What is a Holy Instant but an experience when You briefly shift into – or at least closer to – Reality. It may be likened unto drowning, struggling for air, when You are suddenly, gratuitously, lifted from the water and can breathe freely once again. How good it feels!  How great Your relief and gratitude for freedom.

It seems to come from God, yet He is ever-giving, so it is You who has finally allowed It, the Holy Instant.  And not just You, but the whole world is blessed, for all minds are joined.

¹ What joy there is today!  A thick fog is lifting, and the sun is gladly shining through, and lifting Every One into the Light.! It is a time of special celebration.  Dancing in the streets!  Singing hymns of joy! For today holds out the instant to the darkened world where its release is set. Wherever It’s allowed, the Light does gladly come to pierce the darkness so It may set the captives free! The day has come when sorrows pass away and pain is gone. For sorrow and pain are concomitants but of the dream and not Reality. The glory of salvation – Life, Truth, Love, revealed! – dawns today upon a world set free. This is the time of hope for countless millions.  Possibilities of freedom backon! They will be united now as you forgive them all. For I will be forgiven by you today.  As You realize that Every One is God’s belovèd Son!

² We have forgiven one another now, – We’ve remembered Love – and so we come at last to You again. Father, Your Son, who never left, returns to Heaven and his home. The separation was but a strange mental aberration, not Reality! How glad are we to have our sanity restored to us, and to remember that we all are one.  It’s so good to be Home again and loving One Another!

What is the World

¹The world is false perception. The consciousness that calls itself “the world” sees what it made up, not Reality.  It is born of error, and it has not left its source. The error that the Son of God could be on His own, apart from His Father. That He could somehow leave His Source.  He couldn’t. It will remain no longer than the thought which gave it birth is cherished. The Son has gotten used to His delusion and has become quite attached to it, despite the misery that it has brought. What’s the solution? When the thought of separation has been changed to one of true forgiveness will the world be seen in quite another light, and one which leads to truth, where all the world must disappear and all its errors vanish. What does all this mean?  Well, first: God is Love, and so must be His Son, the belovèd One.  Yet separation claims another one, a loveless son. Thus is forgiveness necessary for it is born of Love, the Love that heals the former loveless Ones.  Now its source has gone, and its effects are gone as well.

 

² The world was made as an attack on God. The Son on His ‘own’; the world stands but for His separation. It symbolizes fear. Unknown to Heaven, it’s but delusion, yet to the Son, it is His petty view of reality. Yet it is scary!  And what is fear except love’s absence?  And God is but Love. Thus the world was meant to be a place where God could enter not and where His Son could be apart from Him. Here was perception born, – another way of seeing, very different from Knowing –  for knowledge could not cause such insane thoughts.  True Knowledge does not rest on the five senses for it is intrinsic to God’s Son. It is What He is. But eyes deceive, and ears hear falsely. Quite deliberately! Now mistakes become quite possible, for certainty has gone.  ‘Life’ now appears to be quite far from God. A new universe has the seeming separated Son ‘created’; something new!  Or so He believes in His delusion.  He simply does not realize how insane He has become.

 

³ The mechanisms of illusion have been born instead.  Yet they are not Reality at all, but pure delusion: Your entire world! And now they go to find what has been given them to seek. And it isn’t God.  Their aim is to fulfil the purpose which the world was made to witness and make real. God and Reality are but anathema to Dreamers. They see in its illusions but a solid base where truth exists, upheld apart from lies.  Their unreality is upside-down and through the looking glass, quite the opposite of all things Real. They believe it truth. Yet everything that they report is but illusion, which is kept apart from truth.  For the Light of Truth would disappear all shadows, ending the false world for Dreamers.

 

⁴ As sight was made to lead away from truth, it can be redirected. Seeing intimations of God’s Good, in place of awful dreams. Sounds become the call of God. His Love Song to You is heard everywhere! Birds sing It; church bells ring it.  Like the sun, His Love Song dismisses darkness with Its clear Light. And all perception can be given a new purpose by the one Whom God appointed savior to the world.  He always transforms evil into Good.  Follow His light and see the world as He beholds it. And learn of Vision from His loving Sight. Hear His Voice alone in all that speaks to you. For He sings of Love. And let Him give you peace and certainty, which you have thrown away but Heaven has preserved for you in Him.  He is Your Teacher of Reality.

 

⁵ Let us not rest content until the world has joined our changed perception. We Love to do this for All Our Brothers, and not just Ourselves, for We have remembered Our Oneness with God.  Let us not be satisfied until forgiveness has been made complete.  For forgiveness is the door through which Love returns to the world,, transforming it right back into Heaven. And let us not attempt to change our function. We must save the world. For we who made it must behold it through the eyes of Christ, that what was made to die be restored to Everlasting Life.

This is how I healed the sick and raised the dead to Life again. Life Everlasting is Reality!

Workbook PART II

Introduction

^{ORIGINAL HAND SCRIPT ~ September 16, 1970}

¹ Words will mean little now.  You may not yet realize this, as I am still inundating You with them!  However, what We speak of here is that You are to pay more attention – be aware of – Your feeling, and Your reaction to it in each instance. We use them – the words We speak of – but as guides on which we do not now depend. For now we seek direct experience of truth alone.  For this, Our basic need is quiet mind. The lessons which remain are merely introductions to the times in which we leave the world of pain and go to enter peace. Now we begin to reach the goal this course has set and find the end toward which our practicing was geared.

These words are not about the world, but Your healing of it; both meanings extant: the healing of Your mind attachment to it, and the healing of the belief that there could be such a thing.

² Now we attempt to let the exercise be merely a beginning.  Come now to this place. For we wait in quiet expectation for our God and Father.  Longing for His Love, for which We have starved.  That is no exaggeration; hence the great epidemic of obesity. For what could You ever hunger but God. He has promised He will take the final step Himself. And we are sure His promises are kept. We have come far along the road, and now we wait for Him. Although He’s ever-present, We are not! Acknowledge and realize His Presence. We will continue spending time with Him each morning and at night, as long as makes us happy. We will not consider time a matter of duration now.  The necessity is contact, not form. We use as much as we will need for the result that we desire.  Desire is what You need desire.  Just lean into it for Your fulfillment. Nor will we forget our hourly remembrance in between, calling to God when we have need of Him as we are tempted to forget our goal.  Now You know He is but Your constant companion.  Acknowledge Him every instant, and watch joy increase!

³ We will continue with a central thought for all the days to come. And we will use that thought to introduce our times of rest and calm our minds at need. Yet we will not content ourselves with simple practicing in the remaining holy instants which conclude the year that we have given God. This is Your Gift to Him of Your Self; be not a faithless giver. We say some simple words of welcome and expect our Father to reveal Himself as He has promised. We have called on Him, and He has promised that His Son will not remain unanswered when he calls His Name.  He is ever-present, answering You, before You do ask!

⁴ Now do we come to Him with but His Word upon our minds and hearts.  Forget the world, and focus just on God. And wait for Him to take the step to us that He has told us, through His Voice, He would not fail to take when we invited Him.  Trust Him!  He is here! He has not left His Son in all his madness nor betrayed His trust in him. Has not His faithfulness earned Him the invitation that He seeks to make us happy?  Reach out with longing.  He is responding! We will offer it, and it will be accepted. So our times with Him will now be spent. We say the words of invitation that His Voice suggests, and then we wait for Him to come to us.  We are receptive, longing for His Love.

⁵ Now is the time of prophecy fulfilled. Now are all ancient promises upheld and fully kept. Made by God at the very instant of the separation. No step remains for time to separate from its accomplishment. For now we cannot fail. Sit silently and wait upon your Father. He has willed to come to you when you have recognized it is your will He do so. And you could have never come this far unless you saw, however dimly, that it is your will.

It’s simple: continue to be willing.

⁶ I am so close to you we cannot fail.  Feel Your Elder Brother’s arm around Your shoulders.  I am here!  You are not alone. Father, we give these holy times to You in gratitude to Him Who taught us how to leave the world of sorrow in exchange for its replacement given us by You.  And We are grateful! We look not backward now. We look ahead and fix our eyes upon the journey’s end. Accept these little gifts of thanks from us, as through Christ’s vision we behold a world beyond the one we made and take that world to be the full replacement of our own.  Help Us here with Our courage.  We need it!  The world’s pull is stronger; yet You’re much stronger!

⁷ And now we wait in silence, unafraid and certain of Your coming. We have sought to find our way by following the Guide You sent to us. We did not know the way, but You did not forget us. And we know that You will not forget us now. We realize that We have never, ever, been forsaken! We ask but that Your ancient promises be kept which are Your Will to keep. We will with You in asking this.  For We are shaky, and We need Your help. The Father and the Son, Whose holy Will created all that is, can fail in nothing. In this certainty, we undertake these last few steps to You and rest in confidence upon Your Love, Which will not fail the Son who calls to You.

A true experience of Your Love would but waken Me in a holy instant!  Yes, indeed, it would!

⁸ And so we start upon the final part of this one holy year which we have spent together in the search for truth and God, Who is its one Creator. We have found the way He chose for us and made the choice to follow it as He would have us go. His hand has held us up. His Thoughts have lit the darkness of our minds. His Love has called to us unceasingly since time began.

⁹ We had a wish that God would fail to have the Son whom He created for Himself. We wanted God to change Himself and be what we would make of Him. And we believed that our insane desires were the truth.  And were accomplished!  Now we are glad that this is all undone, and we no longer think illusions true.  We long, instead, for God’s Reality.  The memory of God is shimmering across the wide horizons of our minds.  Minds which seemed before so narrow have been opened wide by Love. A moment more, and it will rise again.  We feel His Presence, Love’s glad welcoming. A moment more, and we who are God’s Sons are safely home, where He would have us be. Finally, We are easing free from the domination of the wily ego, giving great new meaning to: Free at last.  With God alone is true Equality.

¹⁰ Now is the need for practice almost done. For in this final section we will come to understand that we need only call to God and all temptations disappear. Instead of words, we need but feel His Love.  It’s sure and simple. Instead of prayer, we need but call His Name. Instead of judging, we need but be still and let all things be healed.  God is the power behind all healing. We will accept the way God’s plan will end, as we received the way it started. Now it is complete. This year has brought us to eternity.  And opened wide Our minds that We might step out of the confined ego into eternal Love of God.

¹¹ One further use for words we still retain. From time to time, instructions on a theme of special relevance will intersperse our daily lessons and the periods of wordless, deep experience which should come afterwards.  All things are geared for Your Awakening!These special thoughts should be reviewed each day, each one of them to be continued till the next is given you. They should be slowly read and thought about a little while, preceding one of the holy and blessed instants in the day. We give the first of these instructions now.

And We listen with joyous expectation for Your dear words!
