LESSON TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-EIGHT

 

L e s s o n  258

Let me remember that my goal is God.

God, and not My own petty, selfish ones, which are not but pure self-aggrandizement. That old theme song of the ego: Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me (monotonously!). How do I get free?

¹ All that is needful is to train our minds to overlook all little, senseless aims and to remember that our goal is God. Want to go to lunch? Ask God, not Your friend. If He says “Yes!”, go! Don’t if He says “No!”. This willingness helps You remember God. His memory is hidden in our minds, obscured but by our pointless little goals which offer nothing and do not exist. Where does lunch end up?  While the result of consulting God leads You right to Heaven. Which do You prefer? Shall we continue to allow God’s grace to shine in unawareness while the toys and trinkets of the world are sought instead? Come on! Are they really that appealing? Not when You have God. God is our only goal, our only Love. We have no aim but to remember Him, which leads to freedom.

² Our goal is but to follow in the way that leads to You. For We have nowhere else worthwhile to go but Home to Our God. We have no goal but this. What in earth could We want that is better? There is not one thing! What could we want but to remember You? For to remember You is to remember Love and safety, and Our sanity. What could we seek but our identity? Our Reality, and Our Home: Heaven.
