LESSON TWO HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE

My Self is ruler of the universe.

I do not understand this now, yet sure I am that I will eventually. First must I learn to rule My mind; in place of ego take control of My thinking.

¹ It is impossible that anything should come to me unbidden by myself. This is a pill I don’t want to swallow! Yet since this is but a dream – from which I can Awaken – this must be truly so. Even in this world, it is I who rule my destiny. What happens is what I desire. And since I am not Awake, this dream must be of My choosing. What does not occur is what I do not want to happen. Can I end all wars – in My experience – if I so choose? This must I accept. It’s hard to swallow. For thus am I led past this world to my creations, children of my Will, in Heaven where my holy Self abides with them and Him Who has created me. Lord help Me to Awaken, end the sufferings of My Others. Help Me now to end all this anguish! For My Brother’s pains are mine as well as His.

And now You’re answering Cain’s age-old question: Indeed, I am My Brother’s Keeper!₁ His pain is My pain, as is His happiness My own as well.

To understand and live this is to end the separation.

² You are the Self Whom You created Son, creating like Yourself and one with You. The Holy Spirit is My Reality, not the ego! I have deliberately forgotten Who and What I am, so that I can dream on uninterrupted. Yet Holy Spirit would have Me waken. This must be My will! My Self, Which rules the universe, is but Your Will in perfect union with my own, which can but offer glad assent to Yours that It may be extended to itself. You might wonder Who is Who and Who is You in this paragraph, yet is it unimportant for Everything is One. For what is Love is but seen in how and what It Loves, and Mind known by Its Thoughts; Life by everything that lives.

Who can make the distinction? This is how You separated Yourselves off from God and pushed Him up there somewhere in the sky while You stayed down below. Thus in Your minds achieving separation. Quite insane is this pointless game.

Why not quit it now? There’s no penalty.
