LESSON ONE HUNDRED SIXTY NINE

By grace I live. By grace I am released.

Grace stands for the Gifts of God that are always freely given.

Grace comes to free Us from this painful dreaming

¹ Grace is an aspect of the Love of God which is most like the state prevailing in the unity of truth. Grace is the Love of God freely given. It is the world’s most lofty aspiration, for it leads beyond the world entirely. Yet You cannot learn to have it, for it comes freely given. You can, however, practice being open to receive it. It is past learning yet the goal of learning, for grace cannot come until the mind prepares itself for true acceptance. Grace becomes inevitable instantly in those who have prepared a table where it can be gently laid and willingly received, an altar clean and holy for the gift. When You’ve cared to make Yourself ready to receive it, You can know that it will come.

² Grace is acceptance of the Love of God within a world of seeming hate and fear. The Knowing that this Love must exist; therefore, it surely does. Here We put Our trust. And in that trust comes grace, including miracles of mental freedom, whereby Our mind is released from the ego bondage. By grace alone the hate and fear are gone, – Where could they have gone? – for grace presents a state so opposite to everything the world contains that those whose minds are lighted by the gift of grace can not believe the world of fear is real. Grace gifts You with the understanding that only Good is Real.

³ Grace is not learned, but a Gift that unfolds before, during,and after learning. The final step must go beyond all learning. Grace is not the goal this course aspires to attain. Yet we prepare for grace in that an open mind can hear the call to waken. It is not shut tight against God’s Voice. It has become aware that there are things it does not know and thus is ready to accept a state completely different from experience with which it is familiarly at home. This is important! Reality, at first, will be totally unfamiliar to each One of You.

⁴ We have perhaps appeared to contradict our statement that the revelation of the Father and the Son as one has been already set. This is always true; therefore, this revelation must be inevitable. But we have also said the mind determines when that time will be and has determined it.  For You are already healed because the separation could never really happen; and it seems to be. Nor does time ever exist at all. Yet time is necessary for You to break free of dreaming. In the dream parameters are needed. Timelessness is confusing to the mind that’s chosen limits. And yet we urge you to bear witness to the Word of God to hasten the experience of truth and speed its advent into every mind which recognizes its effects on you. What do I ask but that You live the Love of God enough to make it obvious!

⁵ Oneness is simply the idea God is. The opposite of all separation. And in His Being, He encompasses all things. God is but the Expresser of You and I₁ and every single thing as perfection. He the Source; We the Expression. No mind holds anything but Him. We say “God is,” and then we cease to speak, for in that knowledge words are meaningless.  Be open to the experience of Knowing everything.There are no lips to speak them and no part of mind sufficiently distinct to feel that it is now aware of something not itself. It has united with its Source, and like its Source Itself, it merely is. There is a difference between “I am Me” and “I am We” and that difference in Your point of view changes everything. Words are not sufficient here; for this must be experienced, and then it is Yours. Then You’ll remember, with great rejoicing!

⁶ We cannot speak nor write nor even think of this at all. It comes to every mind when total recognition that its will is God’s has been completely given and received completely. Now You see the importance of making no decisions whatsoever on Your own; not even one. Here is the reason: It returns the mind into the endless present, where the past and future cannot be conceived. It keeps You present here and now with God, and not on automatic knee-jerk (which are also known as ego) reactions. It lies beyond salvation—past all thought of time, forgiveness, and the holy face of Christ. The Son of God has merely disappeared into His Father, as his Father has in him. The world has never been at all. Eternity remains a constant state. This is a wonderful way of Be-ing! You sure won’t be sorry to have Wakened!

⁷ This is beyond experience we try to hasten. Return to Your primary (i.e. original) Be-ing. Yet forgiveness, taught and learned, – showing Your great willingness to turn away from the dreaming – brings with it the experiences which bear witness that the time the mind itself determined to abandon all but this is now at hand. This must be Your choice. You chose the dream; now You must unchoose it. We do not hasten it, in that what you will offer was concealed from Him Who teaches what forgiveness means. Holy Spirit’s function is to stand for Your now Perfection. And so S/He stands until You have full realization of It. All learning was already in His Mind, accomplished and complete. Just as this is available to You. He recognized all that time holds and gave it to all minds that each one might determine from a point where time has ended when it is released to revelation and eternity. This step into Eternity – by the way – will be the end of so-called aging. And it is a giant step to knowing one’s Self as Spirit.

The Son of God is ever fresh and new, for S/He is holy.

⁸ We have repeated several times before that you but make a journey that is done. Yet do You repetitively relive it, ad nauseum. For oneness must be here. (albeit unseen) Whatever time the mind has set for revelation – i.e. when it decides to allow it – is entirely irrelevant to what must be a constant state, forever as it always was (the ego simply choosing to ignore its Reality); forever to remain as it is now. We merely take the part assigned long since and fully recognized as perfectly fulfilled by Him Who wrote salvation’s script in His Creator’s name and in the name of His Creator’s Son. And in greatest gratitude We thank Him.

⁹ There is no need to further clarify what no one in the world can understand. Not for lack of ability, but for lack of willingness. When revelation of your oneness comes, it will be known and fully understood. Now we have work to do, for those in time can speak of things beyond and listen to words which explain what is to come is past already. Yet what meaning can the words convey to those who count the hours still and rise and work and go to sleep by them? They insist upon time’s reality; and, thereby, quite effectively, They do block Eternity.

¹⁰ Suffice it, then, that you have work to do to play your part, as You are Guided. This is not a time for working on Your own; which could only mean led by ego. The ending must remain obscure to you until your part is done.  Don’t let that disturb. Ignore the ego. It does not matter. For your part is still what all the rest depends on. As you take the role assigned to you, salvation comes a little nearer each uncertain heart that does not beat as yet in tune with God. For not just minds are joined, but hearts as well. Forgiveness is the central theme which runs throughout salvation, holding all its parts in meaningful relationships, the course it runs directed, and its outcome sure. There’s that word again! It’s no wonder no-One has Awakened! Who can forgive when They are all so wrong! You think I need some help here?  You are right!

¹¹ And now we ask for grace, (and loving-kindness) the final gift salvation can bestow. Experience that grace provides will end in time, for grace foreshadows Heaven yet does not replace the thought of time but for a little while. Grace surely makes time easier to bear. The interval suffices. It is here that miracles are laid, to be returned by you from holy instants you receive through grace in your experience to all who see the light that lingers on your face. The Peace that comes to You through grace’s gifts. The Peace that passes all understanding.

¹² What is the face of Christ but his who went a moment into timelessness and brought a clear reflection of the unity – Its Living Presence – he felt an instant back to bless the world? How could you finally attain to it forever while a part of you remains outside, unknowing, unawakened, and in need of you as witness to the truth? Witness first and foremost for Yourself; then You bless Your Brothers.

¹³ Be grateful to return, – for You are made new – as you were glad to go an instant and accept the gifts that grace provided you. You know the feeling. Now You know there’s more. You carry them back to yourself. And revelation stands not far behind. Its coming is ensured. And You long to share the miracle that come to You for just that very reason. We ask for grace, very humbly, and for experience that comes from grace, very thankfully. We welcome the release it offers everyone; and long to share it. We do not ask for the unaskable. That is beyond Us, for We don’t know it. We do not look beyond what grace can give. It is sufficient. For this we can give – and very gladly! – in the grace that has been given us. And We are thankful.

¹⁴ Our learning goal today does not exceed this prayer, yet in the world, what could be more than what we ask this day of Him Who gives the grace we ask as it was given Him? And it’s sufficient, and so fulfilling.

¹⁵ By grace I live. By grace I am released. We receive but for one reason, and that is so We can give.
 By grace I give. By grace I will release. And I am grateful.
