LESSON TWO HUNDRED-SIXTY ONE

L e s s o n  261

God is my refuge and security. 

My HOME, My Harmony Of Mind Expressed.  For just as God is, am I consciousness and never ‘matter’.

When I take refuge, realizing I am just as He, then do I find Myself to be – quite permanently – so wholly safe and healed and whole.

¹ I will identify with what I think is refuge and security.  For Me, it used to be the body that I thought was Me, and now it is the Mind; not the ego thoughts claiming to be Me, but the Mind of God.  Things have changed for Me, as I have learned to heed Holy Spirit. I will behold myself where I perceive my strength and think I live within the citadel where I am safe and cannot be attacked.  Again, I was so sure it was the body – led by the ego – and it wasn’t. Let me today seek not security in danger, nor attempt to find my peace in murderous attack.  The Holy Spirit teaches Love and It never preaches hate. Hate’s the favorite ‘sermon’ of the ego. I live in God.  Not just “in” Him for there truly is no separation, only Oneness.  I live as He, for It’s He that does presence Me. In Him I find my refuge and my strength.  As He, I too am always safe and strong; I am His Presence. In Him is my Identity. God is All of Me! In Him is everlasting peace.  As He, I’m peaceful. And only there will I remember who I really am.  As He alone do I now know Myself.

² Let me not seek for idols. Ego body and personality claiming to be Me. Time to leave ‘ego’. I would come, my Father, home to You today.  Home to My Real Self. I choose to be as You created me and find the Son whom You created as my Self.  I now come Home to find the Real Me, the One You reveled Me to Be.

 

What is the Body?

¹ The body is a fence the Son of God imagines he has built to separate parts of his Self from other parts. For All Your Others are but One with You and also as You! It is within this fence, he thinks he lives, to die as it decays and crumbles.  It exists solely for protection; it is to keep out Our God. For within this fence he thinks that he is safe from love.  In the body He thinks God can’t find Him. Identifying with his safety, he regards himself as what his safety is. How else could he be certain he remains within the body, keeping love outside?  Bodies are loveless instruments of separation.  They don’t serve to unite the Son of God at all, but to keep Him alone and lacking Love.  All real Love and communication do come from mind.

² The body will not stay. Yet this he sees as double safety.  For it does give You an out from the dream and a way back in to another dream. For the Son of God’s impermanence is “proof” his fences work and do the task his mind assigns to them. He has done something God would never do: make Him both limited and fragmented. Obviously He’s not the Son of God. For if his oneness still remained untouched, who could attack and who could be attacked?  Two stands as the ‘proof’ of separation. Who could be victor? Who could be his prey? Who could be victim? Who the murderer? When there is but One; On including All. And if he did not die, what “proof” is there that God’s eternal Son can be destroyed?  Absolutely none.  This was the whole point of resurrection.

³ The body is a dream. Like other dreams, it sometimes seems to picture happiness but can quite suddenly revert to fear, where every dream is born. What is the underlying fear that does beset the ego but that it will be found to be unreal, a great deception: the end of dreaming. Thus is God’s Love anathema to it, necessary to avoid at all costs. This is why religion portrays a god of wrath, to be feared and to be appeased with sacrifices.  And a wrathful god could only be an idol, totally devoid of power. For only love creates in truth, and truth can never fear. Made to be fearful, must the body serve the purpose given it. But we can change the purpose which the body will obey by changing what we think that it is for.  You think that it is You, and when it’s gone, You are gone with it!  This isn’t true for the body was never You, any more than are the blue Levi’s You are wearing.

Just as You wear jeans not to be naked, less vulnerable, so does the ego wear the body to hide its vulnerability.  One perfect word describes it: unreality.

Yet does the body have usefulness when Guided by the Holy Spirit.

⁴ The body is the means by which God’s Son returns to sanity. Though it was made to fence him into hell without escape, yet has the goal of Heaven been exchanged for the pursuit of hell.  Attending to the ego leads to hell, paying attention to the Holy Spirit leads to Heaven. The Holy Spirit always asks that You forgive Your Brother. The Son of God extends his hand to reach his brother and to help him walk along the road with him. Love’s Gesture does make all the difference. Now is the body holy. Now it serves to heal the mind that it was made to kill.  The kindness of a hug cannot be overestimated, nor its good result on hugger and hugged.

⁵ You will identify with what you think will make you safe. Whatever it may be, you will believe that it is one with you. Your safety lies in truth and not in lies. It rests in giving and not in taking. Love is your safety. Fear does not exist. Don’t fear false evidenceappearing real. Identify with love, and you are safe. Only Love is Real. Identify with love, and you are home.  Love is the only Place there is, for It is Reality.  Identify with love, and find your Self.

Just so, Love is the only You there is.
