LESSON NINETY

The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

REVIEW II

¹ We are now ready for another review. We will begin where our last review left off and cover two ideas each day. The earlier part of each day will be devoted to one of these ideas, and the latter part of the day to the other. We will have one longer exercise period and frequent shorter ones in which we practice each of them.

² The longer practice periods will follow this general form: take about 15 minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the idea and the comments which are included in the assignments. Devote about three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.

While the ideas – of themselves – are quite important, the crucial part is the Listening, Our Communion.

Repeat the first phase if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the practice period listening quietly but attentively.

³ There is a message waiting for you. Be confident that you will receive it. Remember that it belongs to you and that you want it. Do not allow your intent to waver in the face of distracting thoughts. – The ego mindset is quite good at distraction. – Realize that, whatever form they take, they have no meaning and no power. – Each and every thought coming from the ego mindset is meaningless, for it comes from belief in a ‘reality’ that is non-existent. – Replace them with your determination to succeed. Do not forget that your will has power over all fantasies and dreams. – The choice is always Yours.  Choose once again until Your choice is always God and Love. – Trust it to see you through and carry you beyond them all.

⁴ Regard these practice periods as dedications to the way, the truth, and the life. Refuse to be side-tracked into detours, illusions, and thoughts of death. You are dedicated to salvation. Be determined each day not to leave your function unfulfilled.

What else could You be doing that is as important as this is?  No other endeavor has worth even close to this one.

⁵ Reaffirm your determination in the shorter practice periods as well, using the original form of the idea for general application and a more specific form when needed. Some specific forms will be included in the comments. These, however, are merely suggestions. It is not the particular words you use that matter.

It is Your heart’s desire and Your diligence that matter.  Desire is prayer.

L e s s o n  90

¹ For this review we will use these ideas:

[79] Let me recognize the problem so it can be solved.  Though the solution is universal, I must realize there is a problem!

² Let me realize today that the problem is always some form of grievance which I would cherish.  Hmm.  Then obviously it is solvable by Me, since I must have created it.  Let me also understand that the solution is always a miracle with which I let the grievance be replaced.  So then must forgiveness be a miracle within the dream. Today I would remember the simplicity of salvation by reinforcing the lesson that there is one problem and one solution.  (lack of Love solved by Love’s restoration) The problem is a grievance; – There’s no Love in that – the solution is a miracle.  Love’s restoration!  And I invite the solution to come to me through my forgiveness of the grievance and my welcome of the miracle which takes its place.

I need not be ‘right’ in order to be healed.  For all I need is to be willing to listen for the Holy Spirit in place of the ego.  It only takes a little willingness.

Do You see that what it takes to do that is but willingness.  A willingness to be a different way, a way more loving. A way that is kind and gentle to each One of Your Others.  I might add here that this dictum applies to All Beings universally.

³ Specific applications of this idea might be in these forms:

⁴ This presents a problem to me which I would have resolved.  Yes, I am willing to let go of it.
The miracle behind this grievance will resolve it for me.  What else could it be but My forgiveness!
The answer to this problem is the miracle which it conceals.  The problem always looks to be ‘out there’ yet is it found always to be within.

 

[80] Let me recognize my problems have been solved.  How can You say that when You’ve got a list as long as Your arm?  Since You haven’t solved them yet what makes You think You ever will?  What has made this difference for You now?

That’s a great question!  What else could it be but Holy Spirit!  I gave Her all My problems to be solved.  S/He’s working for Me!  The ego wasn’t helping squat, so I gave them over to the Holy Spirit.  Best decision that I have ever made!

S/He explained some other things to Me too.

⁵ I seem to have problems only because I am misusing time. I see it as a thing quite linear; for I do not understand the entire dream didn’t really happen in an unholy instant.  I believe that the problem comes first, and time must elapse before it can be worked out. I do not see the problem and the answer as simultaneous in their occurrence. That is because I do not yet realize that God has placed the answer together with the problem, so that they cannot be separated by time. The Holy Spirit will teach me this if I will let Him. And I will understand it is impossible that I could have a problem which has not been solved already.   For this whole thing is a dream!  Therefore, although there surely seem to be in the dream, there are no problems.

⁶ These forms of the idea will be useful for specific applications:

⁷ I need not wait for this to be resolved – as believed both by the world and said to Me by the ego: that all things take time.  They don’t take time.  They take a change of mind.
The answer to this problem is already given me if I will accept it.
Time cannot separate this problem from its solution.  In other words, the answer must be now, here, available.  I’ll listen for it.
