LESSON EIGHTY-FOUR

REVIEW II

¹ We are now ready for another review. We will begin where our last review left off and cover two ideas each day. The earlier part of each day will be devoted to one of these ideas, and the latter part of the day to the other. We will have one longer exercise period and frequent shorter ones in which we practice each of them.

² The longer practice periods will follow this general form: take about 15 minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the idea and the comments which are included in the assignments. Devote about three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.

While the ideas – of themselves – are quite important, the crucial part is the Listening, Our Communion.

Repeat the first phase if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the practice period listening quietly but attentively.

³ There is a message waiting for you. Be confident that you will receive it. Remember that it belongs to you and that you want it. Do not allow your intent to waver in the face of distracting thoughts. – The ego mindset is quite good at distraction. – Realize that, whatever form they take, they have no meaning and no power. – Each and every thought coming from the ego mindset is meaningless, for it comes from belief in a ‘reality’ that is non-existent. – Replace them with your determination to succeed. Do not forget that your will has power over all fantasies and dreams. – The choice is always Yours.  Choose once again until Your choice is always God and Love. – Trust it to see you through and carry you beyond them all.

⁴ Regard these practice periods as dedications to the way, the truth, and the life. Refuse to be side-tracked into detours, illusions, and thoughts of death. You are dedicated to salvation. Be determined each day not to leave your function unfulfilled.

What else could You be doing that is as important as this is?  No other endeavor has worth even close to this one.

⁵ Reaffirm your determination in the shorter practice periods as well, using the original form of the idea for general application and a more specific form when needed. Some specific forms will be included in the comments. These, however, are merely suggestions. It is not the particular words you use that matter.

It is Your heart’s desire and Your diligence that matter.  Desire is prayer.

¹ These are the ideas for today’s review:

 

[67] Love created me like Itself.

Not just like Itself, but as Itself as well; as the Living Presence of Itself.  And never was there a time when Love and I did not exist. And We have forever been together.  The same is True of Every One of You.

² I am in the likeness of my Creator.  I am the living eternal Presence of My living eternal Creator.  Always have been, and I always will be. I cannot suffer, I cannot experience loss, and I cannot die. I am not a body.  There are no such things as Reality.  There is only freedom, gain, and eternal Life forever. Right here and right now. I would recognize my reality today. What I really am is shining forth right now, as I allow. I will worship no idols nor raise my own self-concepts to replace my Self. I am in the likeness of my Creator. Not just like Him, but as He. This is He:  Love created me like Itself. 

³ You might find these specific forms helpful in applying the idea:

⁴ Let me not see an illusion of myself in this. As I react to a Brother or some other happening.
As I look on this, – look on each and every situation – let me remember my Creator. Let Me see God there, right where the problem claims to be so real.  It’s only ‘seeming’, just like all dreaming.  And it can seem to be a better dream.
My Creator did not create this as I see it.  Yet, right where problems seem to be is something very holy.

[68] Love holds no grievances.

Those two words together are but an oxymoron.  They have no meeting place; one is the product of dreaming, the Other is Reality.  Only Love is Real.

⁵ Grievances are completely alien to love.  For Love can see and only know the Belovèd Son of God everywhere It is. And It’s everywhere, both Love and the Son.  What is the Son of God but Love that’s Infinite;  It is the Substance of All Things, and also Their Holy Identification.

 

All Ideas come straight from Love, which is but the eternal Mind.  See a mountain, see a grain of sand, see cilantro, see each other, see permanent Ideas of God. They are forever Spirit, not ‘matter’. Each One is Holy. Would You not see Them as They really are?  Why not choose again.  You can see Reality or grievance.  Which one shall it be? Grievances attack love and keep its light obscure. If I hold grievances I am attacking love and therefore attacking my Self. My Self – including All of God’s Ideas and the eyes to see Them – thus becomes alien to me. I am determined not to attack my Self today, so that I can remember who I am.  I will connect with You – dear Elder Brother – for I want to re-member My Self.

⁷ This is no justification for denying my Self.
I will not use this to attack love.  Even though the ego is angry, I can bypass it, and go straight to Love, abiding there with You, My seeming ‘sinning’ Brother, and learn Your Holiness and Mine.
Let this not tempt me to attack myself. Thus do I learn not to give into temptation, and am delivered from ‘evil’.  Love is the Kingdom and the Power and all the Glory. Love is forever.
