LESSON SEVENTY-EIGHT

TRANSCRIBER’S NOTE: The Course text is in bold face. The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

Let miracles replace all grievances.

Surely would it take a miracle to replace every  grievance!  That’s for sure!  So what about the ones that are really, really justified?  The ones where anger is really righteous!

Well, … You can  sure have Your righteous anger if You don’t mind losing a miracle.  As for Me, I prefer a miracle!  Every One can choose.

 

¹ Perhaps it is not yet quite clear to you that each decision that you make is one between a grievance and a miracle. It shold be clear to You very shortly. Each grievance stands like a dark shield of hate before the miracle it would conceal.  Those words are so strong!  So is the effect of a grievance upon You. It twists Your mind and strangles Love.

Those words are even stronger!  Okay!  You’re asking Me: Would I be right or happy?  I see the cost of blinding Myself, with hate, to miracles.  I know You say that slight annoyance hides the deepest rages.  Speak some more to Me.

And as you raise it up before your eyes, – this rabid anger – you will not see the miracle beyond. Yet all the while it waits for you in light, but you behold your grievances instead.  Wring them out within Your mind to get the last drop of delicious self righteousness!

Why would You choose that preoccupation when You could choose a miracle instead?

² Today we go beyond the grievances to look upon the miracle instead.  Show Me how to accomplish this miracle in place of rage? For I know not how. We will reverse the way you see by not allowing sight to stop before it sees.  That makes sense to Me!  When blinded by Our fear or anger, or perhaps confusion, We stop in Our tracks and go no further.  By this refusal We truncate the possibility of having a healing. We need to press on! We will not wait before the shield of hate, but lay it down and gently lift our eyes in silence to behold the Son of God.  Brother, please, show Me how to see as Thee.  To look upon all Others – as You do – with Loving Vision.

³ He waits for you behind your grievances, – and Who is “He” but Your loving Brother – and as you lay them down he will appear in shining light where each one stood before.  My meaning is: each of Your grievances. For every grievance is a block to sight, and as it lifts, you see the Son of God where he has always been. He stands in light, but you were in the dark. Each grievance made the darkness deeper, and you could not see.  For clouds of hatred hid the Light from You.

⁴ Today we will attempt to see God’s Son.  For We will to see Him right, by standing in the light with Him. We will not let ourselves be blind to him; we will not look upon our grievances.  We’ll push aside their awful, sticky cobwebs that clog Our minds with hate, and ask for Eyes of Love with which to see Him.  No such prayer can be ignored. So is the seeing of the world reversed, – as I see more clear – as we look out toward truth, away from fear.

 

⁵ We will select one person you have used as target for your grievances and lay the grievances aside and look at him. And this time You will be willing to see. Someone perhaps you fear and even hate; someone you think you love who angers you; someone you call a friend, but whom you see as difficult at times or hard to please-demanding, irritating, or untrue to the ideal he should accept as his according to the role you set for him.  Oh yes!  This is just how the ego works!  Its mindset certainly isn’t pretty.

 

⁶ You know the one to choose; his name has crossed your mind already.  Yes, You All can laugh at Yourselves.  Don’t take Your healing that solemnly!  It will bog You down. We can do this with laughter, if You are willing to. (Don’t correct My dangling prepositions!  That’s just distraction.)₁  He will be the one of whom we ask God’s Son be shown to us. Through seeing him behind the grievances that we have held against him, you will learn that what lay hidden while you saw him not is there in everyone and can be seen.   And It exists as Every One of You.  You’re All included. Such is Christ’s Nature: It is all-inclusive. I am repetitive deliberately, so You will get it!   He who was enemy is more than friend when he is freed to take the holy role the Holy Spirit has assigned to him. Let him be savior unto you today. Such is his role in God your Father’s plan.  If You find this ‘hard to swallow’, please trust Me anyway.  Your freedom from hell does depend upon it.

 

⁷ Our longer practice periods today will see him in this role. We will attempt to hold him in our mind, first as you now consider him. We will review his faults, (You can relax here; this part is easy!)the difficulties you have had with him, the pain he caused you, his neglect, and all the little and the larger hurts he gave. We will regard his body with its flaws and better points as well, and we will think of his mistakes and even of his “sins.”  We can get really self-righteous with this; for in this dream the pain indeed seems to have reality.  Yet do Christ’s Eyes have a different Vision.

 

⁸ Then let us ask of Him Who knows this Son of God in his reality and truth that we may look on him a different way and see our savior shining in the light of true forgiveness given unto us. We ask Him in the Holy Name of God and of His Son, as holy as Himself:

 

⁹ Let me behold my savior in this one
You have appointed as the one for me
To ask to lead me to the holy light
In which he stands, that I may join with him.  Ask Me for help if it seems too difficult for You to do.

¹⁰ The body’s eyes are closed, and as you think of him who grieved you, let your mind be shown the light in him beyond your grievances.  Those cobwebs We have earlier mentioned. What you have asked for cannot be denied. Your savior has been waiting long for this. He, too, – as well as You – deserves His freedom from Your unloving misperceptions. He would be free and make his freedom yours. The Holy Spirit leans from him to you, seeing no separation in God’s Son. And what you see through Him will free you both.  Since He who seemed to have ‘sinned’ so greatly is but holy, so must You be as well.

 

¹¹ Be very quiet now and look upon your shining savior. Allow the Peace of God to wash gently over Both of You; cleansing all last vestiges of hatred. No dark grievances obscure the sight of him.  For only Love can be present for the Two of You right now. You have allowed the Holy Spirit to express through him the role God gave Him – and gave You as well – that you might be saved. God thanks you for these quiet times today in which you laid your images aside and looked upon the miracle of love the Holy Spirit showed you in their place.  For You have allowed the Reality of Love to touch You.  There has been today a little Easter. Love was resurrected from the mental grave to which it had been consigned in the case of this Brother. The world and Heaven join in thanking you, for not one Thought of God but must rejoice as you are saved and all the world with you.  Minds are but joined, and Love’s resurrection blesses Every One!

Sing hallelujah and praise be to God!

¹² We will remember this throughout the day and take the role assigned to us as part of God’s salvation plan, and not our own. Temptation falls away when we allow each one we meet to save us and refuse to hide his light behind our grievances.  For Love has been freed from the sub-basement of Your mind to govern consciousness again. To everyone you meet and to the ones you think of or remember from the past, allow the role of savior to be given that you may share it with them. For you both, and all the sightless ones as well, we pray:

 

¹³ Let miracles replace all grievances.  This is the highest resurrection, for Love does live again!

¹ Brother really had Me laughing with His comments.  I love His sense of humour.  Even though He is ordinarily unseen, His Presence is always palpable for each One of Us.
