LESSON EIGHTY-EIGHT

The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

REVIEW II

¹ We are now ready for another review. We will begin where our last review left off and cover two ideas each day. The earlier part of each day will be devoted to one of these ideas, and the latter part of the day to the other. We will have one longer exercise period and frequent shorter ones in which we practice each of them.

² The longer practice periods will follow this general form: take about 15 minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the idea and the comments which are included in the assignments. Devote about three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.

While the ideas – of themselves – are quite important, the crucial part is the Listening, Our Communion.

Repeat the first phase if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the practice period listening quietly but attentively.

³ There is a message waiting for you. Be confident that you will receive it. Remember that it belongs to you and that you want it. Do not allow your intent to waver in the face of distracting thoughts. – The ego mindset is quite good at distraction. – Realize that, whatever form they take, they have no meaning and no power. – Each and every thought coming from the ego mindset is meaningless, for it comes from belief in a ‘reality’ that is non-existent. – Replace them with your determination to succeed. Do not forget that your will has power over all fantasies and dreams. – The choice is always Yours.  Choose once again until Your choice is always God and Love. – Trust it to see you through and carry you beyond them all.

⁴ Regard these practice periods as dedications to the way, the truth, and the life. Refuse to be side-tracked into detours, illusions, and thoughts of death. You are dedicated to salvation. Be determined each day not to leave your function unfulfilled.

What else could You be doing that is as important as this is?  No other endeavor has worth even close to this one.

⁵ Reaffirm your determination in the shorter practice periods as well, using the original form of the idea for general application and a more specific form when needed. Some specific forms will be included in the comments. These, however, are merely suggestions. It is not the particular words you use that matter.

It is Your heart’s desire and Your diligence that matter.  Desire is prayer.

L e s s o n  88

¹ Today we will review these ideas:

[75] The light has come.

The Light is ever-present.  I hadn’t ever seen It.  I did not even know that It existed, nor that anything could be that much Love.

How could the world be so blind to Something so much more omnipresent than the air?  How grateful am I for each glimpse of It.

 ² In choosing salvation rather than attack, I merely choose to recognize what is already here. – How much more appropriate than anger this does seem for every Holy Instant. – Salvation is a decision made already. – For salvation is making the choice for Life and Truth and Love. – Attack and grievances are not there to choose. – Despite how real they’ve seemed to Me to be.  Viable alternatives they aren’t. – That is why I always choose between truth and illusion, between what is there and what is not. – Such is the necessity for My constant connection with the Holy Spirit. – The light has come. I can but choose the light, for it has no alternative. It has replaced the darkness, and the dark is gone.

I need but open up My mind to Light, give My willingness.

³ These would prove useful forms for specific applications of this idea:

⁴ This cannot show me darkness, for the light has come.

Although It’s often hard to see, I know It’s here.  For It is everywhere and must be all things real, including Me.  And I too can say “Let there be Light” and allow Its Revelation.

The light in you is all that I would see, [name].

Such is True Loving.  Love is not emotion but God’s Vision.

I would see in this only what is there.

I’m only asked to see and Be the Truth.

[76] I am under no laws but God’s.

Cleaving to this Truth, so-called ‘laws’ of physics are seen to be unreality.  The nature of the Universe is Spirit, never ‘matter’.  Once more, the choice between Truth and illusion.

⁵ Here is the perfect statement of my freedom. I am under no laws but God’s. – Thus could I – like Jesus – walk on water, through the choice for God. – I am constantly tempted to make up other laws and give them power over me. – What an insane game is the separation.  There’s nothing fun about it, only pain and suffering. What a stupid choice! – I suffer only because of my belief in them. – How bizarre is that! They’re a faulty choice.  I can choose again. – They have no real effect on me at all. I am perfectly free of the effects of all laws save God’s. And His are the laws of freedom.

Happiness or this unreal misery, those are My choices. Which one do I choose?  It’s seems an easy choice but for habit.  Again, the necessity for help from the Holy Spirit.

⁶ For specific forms in applying this idea, these would be useful:

⁷ My perception of this shows me I believe in laws which do not exist.

Otherwise I would not be suffering, but for listening to the voice of the ego.  For suffering comes from an insane belief system.

I see only the laws of God at work in this.

Oh Holy Spirit I am so willing!  And I need Your help.  Like right this minute!  What is the Truth here?

Let me allow God’s laws to work in this and not my own.

           

Let Love take over.
