LESSON SEVENTY-EIGHT

TRANSCRIBER’S NOTE: The Course text is in bold face. The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

 

Let miracles replace all grievances.

You need not ask for them specifically, but rather let the Holy Spirit choose when and how to heal all things, for S/He knows Your heart and sees the entire picture and all the necessities for healing.

I am not saying never ask, but rather to allow Yourself to trust all to the Holy Spirit.

¹ Perhaps it is not yet quite clear to you that each decision that you make is one between a grievance and a miracle.

Take a moment here – if You will – to review a situation that calls for a miracle, and find the lurking grievance (perhaps there will be more than one) and just simply dismiss it (or them, one by one).

To aid in the dismissal, You may say: “I do not need this grievance!  I need a miracle instead!”

Each grievance stands like a dark shield of hate before the miracle it would conceal. And as you raise it up before your eyes, you will not see the miracle beyond. Yet all the while it waits for you in light, but you behold your grievances instead.

You will get relief, for the Holy Spirit always listens. S/He waits only for Your willingness to receive Your healing.

I speak to All Who wish to hear, Who want Your freedom more than You want the grievance.

² Today we go beyond the grievances to look upon the miracle instead.

For You have stopped and stood transfixed and immobilized by Your grievance, more interested in it than its needed healing.

We will reverse the way you see by not allowing sight to stop before it sees.

You have been hypnotized by the ego fixation on the grievance, just like the man who bet the magician that He could not be hypnotized.₁  Like He, You can push through the dark clouds of sleep to behold the healing clarity.

We will not wait before the shield of hate, but lay it down and gently lift our eyes in silence to behold the Son of God.

It is but hatred that does cloud Your thinking and Your Vision.  It may be ‘justified’ yet it’s still hate, and quite unlovely.  Would You not rather see the Son of God right where You see Your sinning Brother stand?  Don’t You prefer happiness to grievance?  It stands right by You, Your holy miracle, standing with the face of Your Brother.

³ He waits for you behind your grievances, and as you lay them down he will appear in shining light where each one stood before. For every grievance is a block to sight, – Now You understand presbyopia: clouds of accumulated grievances. – and as it lifts, you see the Son of God where he has always been. He stands in light, but you were in the dark. Each grievance made the darkness deeper, and you could not see.

God is standing right where You are and right where Your Brother is.  This is not about Your Brother being healed – although He will be – it is about Your need for healing.  It’s been said that it is just as ‘bad’ to see a sinner as it is to be One.

⁴ Today we will attempt to see God’s Son. We will not let ourselves be blind to him; we will not look upon our grievances. So is the seeing of the world reversed, as we look out toward truth, away from fear.

⁵ We will select one person you have used as target for your grievances and lay the grievances aside and look at him. Someone perhaps you fear and even hate; someone you think you love who angers you; someone you call a friend, but whom you see as difficult at times or hard to please-demanding, irritating, or untrue to the ideal he should accept as his according to the role you set for him.

The ability to do this is the Gift of the Holy Spirit.  The willingness is solely Yours.

⁶ You know the one to choose; his name has crossed your mind already. He will be the one of whom we ask God’s Son be shown to us. Through seeing him behind the grievances that we have held against him, you will learn that what lay hidden while you saw him not is there in everyone and can be seen. He who was enemy is more than friend when he is freed to take the holy role the Holy Spirit has assigned to him. Let him be savior unto you today. Such is his role in God your Father’s plan.

When You free Yourself, You free Him as well, for His view of Himself is no better than Your view has been.

⁷ Our longer practice periods today will see him in this role. We will attempt to hold him in our mind, first as you now consider him. We will review his faults, the difficulties you have had with him, the pain he caused you, his neglect, and all the little and the larger hurts he gave. We will regard his body with its flaws and better points as well, and we will think of his mistakes and even of his “sins.”

This sounds quite laborious already.  Yet You do this every day – All of You – dozens of times.  It is quite tiresome and bases the so-called need to be asleep.

⁸ Then let us ask of Him Who knows this Son of God in his reality and truth that we may look on him a different way and see our savior shining in the light of true forgiveness given unto us.

Ask Me for My eyes of Love with which to gaze upon His face, this One with behavior egregious.  You’re wondering how I do it.  Easy.  I am not sucked into the dream by mistaking fantasy for Reality.

As I look upon Your world, I see but a nightmare, an awful dream, yet totally unreal, a figment of collective imagination.

So I see these Sisters and these Brothers that cause suffering to their Others, and none of it is real!

Can I condemn them for misbehaving while They’re in a dream?

And I understand full well that while You’re dreaming too, it all seems real, and yet to be freed from the dream what You have to do is WAKE UP.

That is the only solution to the problems of the dream.

And this is the purpose of these Lessons.  They’re not here to give purpose to each year.  If it takes willingness to see Your sinful Brother innocent in order to wake up, be willing!  God and I and the Holy Spirit are ever here to help You see and do what seems impossible to You. It isn’t.

We ask Him in the Holy Name of God and of His Son, as holy as Himself:

⁹ Let me behold my savior in this one
You have appointed as the one for me
To ask to lead me to the holy light
In which he stands, that I may join with him.

Remember that I stand with You, knowing You can do this, even if the words are gagging in Your throat.  It gets easier the more You do it.

Keep in Your mind this thought: ‘This is all a dream.  S/He has not really wronged Me.’  If I can’t do this for Myself, then I can do it for  dear belovèd Elder Brother.’

Whatever it takes.  I’m standing by You.

¹⁰ The body’s eyes are closed, and as you think of him who grieved you, let your mind be shown the light in him beyond your grievances. What you have asked for cannot be denied. Your savior has been waiting long for this. He would be free and make his freedom yours. The Holy Spirit leans from him to you, seeing no separation in God’s Son. And what you see through Him will free you both.

This is such a painful dream, and Reality is absolutely wonderful.  Truth is that You are but One with this detested Brother.  And that One is lovely.  Will You not right now forgive this Brother for He is dreaming too.  Elsewise He would never have harmed You.

¹¹ Be very quiet now and look upon your shining savior. No dark grievances obscure the sight of him. You have allowed the Holy Spirit to express through him the role God gave Him that you might be saved.

What is the quietness but a stilling of Your mind, a stopping of the ego lists of grievances.  A sense of Peace unknown before descends upon You, full with holy blessing.  All there is is Good.

You feel like You could rest there happily forever, and You can.  For it is Your natural state of mind.

God thanks you for these quiet times today in which you laid your images aside and looked upon the miracle of love the Holy Spirit showed you in their place. The world and Heaven join in thanking you, for not one Thought of God but must rejoice as you are saved and all the world with you.

For all minds are joined, and Your willingness to Love fills every mind with peace and joy.

¹² We will remember this throughout the day and take the role assigned to us as part of God’s salvation plan, and not our own. Temptation falls away when we allow each one we meet to save us and refuse to hide his light behind our grievances. To everyone you meet and to the ones you think of or remember from the past, allow the role of savior to be given that you may share it with them. For you both, and all the sightless ones as well, we pray:

¹³ Let miracles replace all grievances.

Every grievance, everywhere, lessens by a little – and cumulatively that’s a lot! – all because of Your willingness to forgive and Love.

¹ A hypnotist bets a man that He cannot go in a cave all the way to the end and return before sundown.  The man takes the bet.  He strolls into the cave thinking this will be a snap.  Suddenly the ground opens up before Him and He sees and hears Others screaming as They pitch to their doom.  There is no way to go around.  He is horrified, then remembers that He is dealing with a hypnotist and, taking a breath, steps out into the abyss, and it disappears and there is now solid ground.

Next a fairly shallow pit of writhing poisonous snakes appears.  Snakes terrify Him, yet remembering the abyss illusion, He steps boldly into the pit.  The snakes attack Him, and He is panicked until He realizes that not fooling Him with vision, pain is added.  With that realization, the snakes and pit disappear.

And so it goes.  And when the hypnotist can’t get Him with drama, He uses the mundane and almost wins.

This has been very helpful to Me, and I wanted to share it, stepping forward (when Guided) no matter how daunting the prospect.
