LESSON SEVENTY-SIX

TRANSCRIBER’S NOTE: The Course text is in bold face. The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

 

I am under no laws but God’s.

What are those Laws?  It’s so very simple.  Whatever is Good is the Law of God. Life is Law.  Love is Law, et cetera.

¹ We have observed before how many senseless things have seemed to you to be salvation. – All these little ‘gods’ that You have made for Yourself seem to be outside of You and separate from You.   You have given them their magic ‘power’ and sooner or later they do fail You because they have no power of their own.  They are just like the man-made idols mentioned in the Bible. –  Each has imprisoned you with laws as senseless as itself. You are not bound by them.

Having given them their so-called power, You can rescind it.

Yet to understand that this is so, you must first realize salvation lies not there. While you would seek for it in things that have no meaning, you bind yourself to laws that make no sense. Thus do you seek to prove salvation is where it is not.

And when You do not find it where it isn’t, You feel that things for You are hopeless.  Yet Your salvation stands with Love awaiting You at every Holy Instant.  God does not leave You alone and comfortless.  Your Saviour is closer and more real to You than breathing.  It’s Your own right mind: the Holy Spirit.

So be glad that Your senseless idols ultimately fail You, for they do not offer true salvation, nor temporary.

² Today we will be glad you cannot prove it. For if you could, you would forever seek where it is not and never find it. – Remember that to seek and to not find is the ego’s goal. – The idea for today tells you once again how simple is salvation. Look for it where it waits for you, and there it will be found. Look nowhere else, for it is nowhere else.

It’s very simple.  The Truth always is; while the ego relies on convolution to hide its lies.

³ Think of the freedom in the recognition that you are not bound by all the strange and twisted laws which you have set up to save you. You really think that you would starve unless you have stacks of green paper strips and piles of metal discs. – You can hardly eat them, and the food that You can buy is equally unnecessary to Your True Life, which is of God and nothing else. – You really think a small round pellet or some fluid pushed into your veins through a sharpened needle will ward off death. – When Life is God and not in a body.  Even in the dream it is consciousness determining whether You ‘live’ or ‘die’, – You really think you are alone unless another body is with you.

Yet We have said so many times that all minds are always joined.

⁴ It is insanity that thinks these things. You call them laws, and put them under different names in a long catalogue of rituals that have no use and serve no purpose. You think you must obey the “laws” of medicine, of economics, and of health. Protect the body, and you will be saved.

Saved from what, pray tell?  For almost all of You believe most rigidly in ‘dying’.

⁵ These are not laws, but madness. – Insane beliefs that have become laws to You who do believe them.  These insane beliefs exist wholly in mind and are imaged as the  body. The body is endangered by the mind that hurts itself. The body suffers that the mind will fail to see it is the victim of itself. The body’s suffering is a mask the mind holds up to hide what really suffers. It would not understand it is its own enemy, that it attacks itself and wants to die. – The so-called ‘human’ mind, a.k.a. the ego, is not healthy, no matter how well it has adapted to the dream.  For the dream itself is but based on death, the seeming ‘death’ of the Son of God when He appeared to become an ego, and the Son slipped out of sight.  This is why death is so appealing, for it does recreate the act of the Son Who thought that with the appearance of the ego, He had matched the Father as Creator. – It is from this – this ‘sin’ You perceive – your “laws” would save the body. It is for this you think you are a body.

You are so attached to the idea of body because it is this that You think You have created, separate and apart from God, the Father.

It is for this ‘sin’ that You have made a fearful enemy out of God Who is purely Life and Love.

You are not a body.  You are mind identifiable.  The Son of God is Infinite and Universal and Specific and Unique.

⁶ There are no laws except the laws of God. – And His Laws are pure Life and Love, Intelligence and Power. – This needs repeating over and over until you realize that it applies to everything that you have made in opposition to His Will. Your magic has no meaning. What it is meant to save does not exist. Only what it is meant to hide will save you.

For all Your ‘laws’ and ‘definitions’ have but one purpose: to keep the Son of God forever dreaming.  And so You languish in Your suffering right in the midst of Heaven, not knowing Who and What You are.

⁷ The laws of God can never be replaced.

Therefore, Life, Love and Intelligence are permanent as You.  There is no sickness, no death, nor hatred.  What there is is Love.

We will devote today to rejoicing that this is so. It is no longer a truth which we would hide. We realize instead it is a truth which keeps us free forever. – In the world Your laws are used to punish, not to bless.  They rest on the premise that Brothers can be evil, and therefore, must be controlled.  The Laws of God, by their very nature, heal the troubled mind, (which does heal the body) showing forth the Son of God as whole and Good. The Laws of God are so very lovely. The Laws of God are absolutely Good. – Magic imprisons, but the laws of God set free. The light has come because there are no laws but His.

Who cares for magic when remembering Who We really are.

⁸ We will begin the longer practice period today with a short review of the different kinds of “laws” we have believed we must obey. These would include, for example, the laws of nutrition, of immunization, of medication, and of the body’s protection in innumerable ways. Think further-you believe in the laws of friendship, of “good” relationships, and reciprocity.

⁹ Perhaps you even think that there are laws which set forth what is God’s and what is yours. Many “religions” have been based on this. They would not save, but damn in Heaven’s name. Yet they are no more strange than other “laws” you hold must be obeyed to make you safe.

All these ‘laws’ seem necessary to You for You do believe that You are made from matter.  And yet there is no such thing.  All is Spirit, and what You are is surely, purely Consciousness.

¹⁰ There are no laws but God’s. Dismiss all foolish magical beliefs today, and hold your mind in silent readiness to hear the Voice that speaks the truth to you. You will be listening to One Who says there is no loss under the laws of God. Payment is neither given nor received. Exchange cannot be made, there are no substitutes, and nothing is replaced by something else. God’s laws forever give and never take.

¹¹ Hear Him Who tells you this, and realize how foolish are the laws you thought upheld the world you thought you saw. Then listen further. He will tell you more. About the Love your Father has for you. About the endless joy He offers you. About His yearning for His only Son, created as His channel for creation; denied to Him by his belief in hell.

¹² Let us today open God’s channels to Him and let His Will extend through us to Him. Thus is creation endlessly increased. His Voice will speak of this to us, as well as of the joys of Heaven which His laws keep limitless forever. We will repeat today’s idea until we have listened and understood there are no laws but God’s. Then we will tell ourselves, as a dedication with which the practice period concludes:

¹³ I am under no laws but God’s.

Remember, only God has Power.  All else is a nightmare, from which You are quite free the moment that You really wish to BE.

¹⁴ We will repeat this dedication as often as possible today; at least four or five times an hour, as well as in response to any temptation to experience ourselves as subject to other laws throughout the day. It is our statement of freedom from all danger and all tyranny. It is our acknowledgment that God is our Father, and that His Son is saved.

And We are the Son.  Thanks Be unto God.
