LESSON ONE HUNDRED-FIFTY-TWO

L e s s o n  152

The power of decision is my own.

This is pretty obvious or You wouldn’t be in this dream.  God does not will that You be in this strange land of insanity.

¹ No one can suffer loss unless it be his own decision.

Who wants to hear this?  The pleasure of pain is but the opportunity to blame.

No one suffers pain except his choice elects this state for him. No one can grieve nor fear nor think him sick unless these are the outcomes that he wants. And no one dies without his own consent.

Hmm.  Looks like You’re actually in charge, doesn’t it?  At least in the dream.  And, yes, that is what’s made it so appealing on down the ages of pain and suffering: You’re writing the script, and not the Father.  Ugh!  Don’t want to hear that!

If I’m not victim of something, then I’m the one responsible, which removes the fun of suffering!  There’s no point to it.  No more victimhood?, Then no more dreaming!  Jesus, no wonder You were crucified!

Indeed.  Ego wants healing, but no responsibility for its ills.  “Go and sin no more” was – and is – not popular.

Nothing occurs but represents your wish, and nothing is omitted that you choose. Here is your world, complete in all details. Here is its whole reality for you. And it is only here salvation is.

Guess who is the saviour?  Must be number One.  Mustn’t it?

² You may believe that this position is extreme and too inclusive to be true.

It makes mincemeat of the dream.  How unfair, and what a bummer!

Those of You who feel this is good news, how very blessed You are, for right here here stands wide Your door to freedom:  This “open door”₁ I have set before You.

Yet can truth have exceptions? If you have the gift of everything, can loss be real? Can pain be part of peace, or grief of joy? Can fear and sickness enter in a mind where love and perfect holiness abide? Truth must be all-inclusive if it be the truth at all. Accept no opposite and no exceptions, for to do so is to contradict the truth entirely.

This is most important.  Let it sink in.  Reality is All or nothing.  Have You not had enough of nothing?  For nothing is the ego.

³ Salvation is the recognition that the truth is true and nothing else is true.

This is quite obvious when You are Awake. While yet You sleep, the senses dictate truth to You, insisting that they are true.

This you have heard before, but you may not yet accept both parts of it. Without the first, the second has no meaning, but without the second is the first no longer true. Truth cannot have an opposite. This can not be too often said and thought about. For if what is not true is true as well as what is true, then part of truth is false, and truth has lost its meaning. Nothing but the truth is true, and what is false is false.

You are wondering why I’m going on and on about something so obvious.  Well, keep on reading.

⁴ This is the simplest of distinctions, yet the most obscure. But not because it is a difficult distinction to perceive.

It has to do with Your fondness for this strange state of dreaming.  If You can’t pretend it’s true, it won’t be any fun at all.  Nor will You have bested God with Your very own ‘creation’.

Thus does the mind become quite convoluted, while insisting that the dream is real.

It is concealed behind a vast array of choices which do not appear to be entirely your own. And thus the truth appears to have some aspects that belie consistency but do not seem to be but contradictions introduced by you.

An aspect of the secretive projection of the ego.

⁵ As God created you, you must remain unchangeable with transitory states by definition false. And that includes all shifts in feeling, alterations in conditions of the body and the mind, in all awareness, and in all response. This is the all-inclusiveness which sets the truth apart from falsehood, and the false kept separate from the truth as what it is.

While error is persistent, Truth wins since It is consistent.

⁶ Is it not strange that you believe to think you made the world you see is arrogance?

This is another very clever tactic of the ego.

God made it not. Of this you can be sure. What can He know of the ephemeral, the sinful and the guilty, the afraid, the suffering and lonely, and the mind that lives within a body that must die? You but accuse Him of insanity, to think He made a world where such things seem to have reality. He is not mad. Yet only madness makes a world like this.

So to attribute such a world to Him is to project Your insanity on Him!  Impossible.

⁷ To think that God made chaos, contradicts His Will, invented opposites to truth, and suffers death to triumph over life-all this is arrogance. Humility would see at once these things are not of Him.

Thus would the dream end.  And the ego cannot have that, so this insane arrogance continues; insisting relentlessly – and with religious fervorosity₂ – that what isn’t is.

And can you see what God created not? To think you can is merely to believe you can perceive what God willed not to be. And what could be more arrogant than this?

And not only have You recreated the world, You have made God over in Your own strange self-created, so-called image.

Nothing that You have invented is really going on, yet do You suffer from it as if it were.

⁸ Let us today be truly humble and accept what we have made as what it is.

A foolish children’s game of make-believe. Yet God’s Son is never childish, never was a child, for S/He is always Presence-ing Our God fully.

Not so the ego, which is always limited and childish.  Won’t You choose again?  You’re always free to make the choice.  Why not choose for God and not the ego.  For a choice for God is choosing Your Real Be-ing.

The power of decision is our own. Decide but to accept your rightful place as co-creator – appreciator – of the universe, and all you think you made will disappear.

Don’t worry.  Nothing Real will be lost.  Quite the contrary, for You are regaining but Reality!

What rises to awareness then will be all that there ever was, eternally as it is now. And it will take the place of self-deceptions made but to usurp the altar to the Father and the Son.

And it will take Your breath away with Joy.

⁹ Today we practice true humility, abandoning the false pretense by which the ego seeks to prove it arrogant. Only the ego can be arrogant.

We are not egos, so nothing is lost.  Everything is gained.

But truth is humble in acknowledging its mightiness, its changelessness, and its eternal wholeness-all-encompassing, God’s perfect gift to His beloved Son.

What God Is, We Are.  This is not arrogance but simple Truth.  We need first accept It, then embrace It.  What God Is, We Are.  One Holy Be-ing, yet It’s Infinite.

¹⁰ We lay aside the arrogance which says that we are sinners, guilty and afraid, ashamed of what we are. – This statement is in direct contradiction to God and to the Holy Spirit. – And we lift our hearts in true humility instead to Him Who has created us immaculate, like to Himself in power and in love.

Join Me and together We will invite that Love, which ends all strife, back into Your Life.  Feel the Peace come over You, like gentle ripples on still waters.  It never really left; You just hid it from Yourself.

The power of decision is our own. And we accept of Him that which we are and humbly recognize the Son of God.

Once again t’s time to choose for Love, and to keep on choosing. This choice is needed everywhere within the dream.  Will You please give it as Your Gift?  For then can You really see Your Brother.

¹¹ To recognize God’s Son implies as well that all self-concepts have been laid aside and recognized as false. Their arrogance has been perceived. And in humility the radiance of God’s Son, his gentleness, his perfect sinlessness, his Father’s Love, his right to Heaven and release from hell are joyously accepted as our own. – Any Holy Gift We give Ourselves also gifts Our Brother, for giving and receiving are the same. – Now do we join in glad acknowledgment that lies are false and only truth is true.

¹² We think of truth alone as we arise and spend five minutes practicing its ways, encouraging our frightened minds with this:

This day I will accept myself as what
My Father’s Will created me to be.

And now I do this in willing and in glad expectancy.  Let resistance Go.

¹⁴ Then will we wait in silence, giving up all self-deceptions as we humbly ask our Self that He reveal Himself to us.

What happiness these words evoke, what promise: all is not lost, and never has been.

What confidence We are feeling now, in His Eternal Love.

And He Who never left will come again to our awareness, grateful to restore His home to God as it was meant to be.

“S/He Who never left”: Reality, the Son of God We are.  Waiting attentively, like a nursing Mother with Her hungry new-born Baby; so close at hand is the Holy Spirit.  Even closer, for S/He is really We.

¹⁵ In patience wait for Him throughout the day and hourly invite Him with the words with which the day began, concluding it with this same invitation to your Self. God’s Voice will answer, for He speaks for you and for your Father. He will substitute the peace of God for all your frantic thoughts, the truth of God for self-deceptions, and God’s Son for your illusions of yourself.

Good it feels to drop off the illusions and just Be My Self.  The Power of decision is My own.  What words of freedom!
