LESSON ONE HUNDRED-THIRTY

It is impossible to see two worlds.

Because each one contradicts the other.  Just so, You cannot believe in two opposites at the same time, or see two worlds that are completely unlike each other.

Can You believe wholeheartedly in Good, while espousing evil?  Is not it just to be consistent? Could You really trust someone who isn’t?

¹ Perception is consistent. – As are Your beliefs. Therefore, what You believe is what You see. – What you see reflects your thinking. And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see. – Thinking and beliefs are quite consistent. – Your values are determiners of this, for what you value you must want to see, believing what you see is really there. No one can see a world his mind has not accorded value. And no one can fail to look upon what he believes he wants.

These words are so frustrating dear Elder Brother.  How can I get free of this world that I don’t think I want, yet since I see it, then I want it?

Relax dear Sisters and dear Brothers who do feel this way.  There is a simple answer: You cannot do it on Your own.  Hence God’s Plan for Your salvation, and it is the Holy Spirit.

Here is what is happening: when You do make decisions on Your own – as is Your habit – then the ego has ascendancy with its attachment to the world.  When You are but willing to connect instead with the Holy Spirit, then the desire of the Rest of You for Home takes over and becomes ascendant!  Quite simple.

And not just simple, but relaxing, to surrender the ego’s constant demand for control, which is very exhausting.  Thus You all ‘age’, and that isn’t fun, so You choose to ‘die’ and do it all again.  And so You are like a hamster running round and round its wheel.

² Yet who can really hate and love at once?

Only the ego with its strange sense of ‘love’ that is partial, given to some and not to Others, used but as a tool for manipulation.  This is a travesty of Love and thus is really hatred.

Who can desire what he does not want to have reality? – Who or what is doing the desiring? Which part of You has ascendancy? – And who can choose to see a world of which he is afraid? – Who or what does make the choices for You?  What has dominion? – Fear must make blind, for this its weapon is-that which you fear to see you cannot see. – Fear is the ego’s weapon.  Holy Spirit knows not of it.  So said John, My disciple, that perfect Love does cast out fear.₁ – Love and perception thus go hand in hand, but fear obscures in darkness what is there.

In other words, when You are afraid, the mind is but concerned only with self-saving, and One cannot Love when fixed on self.

In the dream, You are always perceiving something, depending on Your mindset.  Now perception is what You think You know based on Your senses.  In the dream, the ego’s state of senses rules.

Yet the ego’s so-called senses are but misperceptions of Reality; so, operating as an ego, on Your own, You cannot see things correctly.  Thus, the necessity for Your re-Union with the Holy Spirit, whether It be S/He or Me or Our Father-Mother God.

³ What, then, can fear project upon the world?

This is a good question, the key to the ‘why?’ of the dreaming.  Being better said: What then can fear not project on the world?  If You but look around You, You will clearly have Your answer.

What can be seen in darkness that is real?

Fear does blind Us to Love’s Reality.  For Truth and Love go hand in hand, and blind to One, We are blind too, to the Other.

Truth is eclipsed by fear, and what remains is but imagined.

Thus is the ego but paralyzed by its own fear, which is self-generated by its selfishness.

Yet what can be real in blind imaginings of panic borne? What would you want that this is shown to you? What would you wish to keep in such a dream?

Looked at clearly, Your dream is seen to be only a nightmare.  You think that You abide in pleasant dreams? Just look around You!  How happy can You be while countless Others suffer?  Surely, sometime, Your turn comes.

Your Brother’s pain wounds You in unseen ways.  Yet Waken and then both of You rejoice.

⁴ Fear has made everything you think you see. — It has distorted all Reality. As if You were but looking through a wavy lens of glasses.

All separation, all distinctions, and the multitude of differences you believe make up the world. They are not there. – You see Reality through the distorted ego mindset.  You believe them real, and Your belief makes all the difference.  To You that is!  Not to Reality.

Love’s enemy has made them up. Yet love can have no enemy, and so they have no cause, no being, and no consequence.  Yet Your desire to believe them has made them real to You.  So all that needs correction is not the ‘world’ You see ‘out there’, but the thoughts You have ‘in here’; i.e. within Your consciousness.

They can be valued but remain unreal. They can be sought, but they can not be found.  Would You dally and dance forever with unpleasant phantasmagoria when You could Wake up to perfect Love instead?

⁵ Today we will not seek for them nor waste this day in seeking not what can be found. It is impossible to see two worlds which have no overlap of any kind. Seek for the one; the other disappears. But one remains. They are the range of choice beyond which your decision cannot go. The real and the unreal are all there is to choose between, and nothing more than these.  Do not be surprised at misery when You have choosen unreality.  The two go hand in hand.

⁶ Today we will attempt no compromise where none is possible. The world you see is proof you have already made a choice as all-embracing as its opposite. What we would learn today is more than just the Lesson that you cannot see two worlds. It also teaches that the one you see is quite consistent from the point of view from which you see it. It is all a piece because it stems from one emotion, and reflects its source in everything you see.

This strange world that You’ve made up in Your mind quite clearly stems from the fear that You’ve created.

⁷ Six times today in thanks and gratitude we gladly give five minutes to the thought which ends all compromise and doubt and go beyond them all as one. We will not make a thousand meaningless distinctions, nor attempt to bring with us a little part of unreality as we devote our minds to finding only what is real.

Today We will not let Our old beliefs distract Us, but will ask the Holy Spirit to please clarify all things for Us.

⁸ Begin your searching for the other world by asking for a strength beyond your own, and recognize what it is you seek. – You long for safety and the comfort of Your Real Home, Heaven. – You do not want illusions. – They have not been fun since the beginning. It sure has been a failed experiment. Thank God You’re ready to abandon it. – And you come to these five minutes emptying your hands of all the petty treasures of this world. – They are quite worthless. – You wait for God to help you as you say:

⁹ It is impossible to see two worlds.
Let me accept the strength God offers me
And see no value in this world that I
May find my freedom and deliverance.

It has become quite clear that the choice is one or the other.

¹⁰ God will be there. – He’s here already for He’s always here. He’s omnipresent. – For you have called upon the great unfailing Power Who will take this giant step with you in gratitude. Nor will you fail to see His thanks expressed in tangible perception and in truth. – And while He is omnipotent, He is very gentle. – You will not doubt what you will look upon. For though it is perception, it is not the kind of seeing that your eyes alone have ever seen before. And you will know God’s strength upheld as you made this choice.  There are no words for this experience.  It has to be felt.

¹¹ Dismiss temptation easily today whenever it arises merely by remembering the limits on your choice. The unreal or the real, the false or true is what you see, and only what you see. Perception is consistent with your choice, and hell or Heaven comes to you as one.

There appear to be two worlds, yet one is imagination.  Reality is Heaven, while unreality is hell.

¹² Accept a little part of hell as real, and you have damned your eyes and cursed your sight, and what you will behold is hell indeed. Yet the release of Heaven still remains within your range of choice to take the place of everything that hell would show to you. All you need say to any part of hell, whatever form it takes, is simply this:

¹³ It is impossible to see two worlds.
I seek my freedom and deliverance,
And this is not a part of what I want.

Then be consistent.
