LESSON EIGHTY-SEVEN

The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

REVIEW II

¹ We are now ready for another review. We will begin where our last review left off and cover two ideas each day. The earlier part of each day will be devoted to one of these ideas, and the latter part of the day to the other. We will have one longer exercise period and frequent shorter ones in which we practice each of them.

² The longer practice periods will follow this general form: take about 15 minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the idea and the comments which are included in the assignments. Devote about three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.

While the ideas – of themselves – are quite important, the crucial part is the Listening, Our Communion.

Repeat the first phase if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the practice period listening quietly but attentively.

³ There is a message waiting for you. Be confident that you will receive it. Remember that it belongs to you and that you want it. Do not allow your intent to waver in the face of distracting thoughts. – The ego mindset is quite good at distraction. – Realize that, whatever form they take, they have no meaning and no power. – Each and every thought coming from the ego mindset is meaningless, for it comes from belief in a ‘reality’ that is non-existent. – Replace them with your determination to succeed. Do not forget that your will has power over all fantasies and dreams. – The choice is always Yours.  Choose once again until Your choice is always God and Love. – Trust it to see you through and carry you beyond them all.

⁴ Regard these practice periods as dedications to the way, the truth, and the life. Refuse to be side-tracked into detours, illusions, and thoughts of death. You are dedicated to salvation. Be determined each day not to leave your function unfulfilled.

What else could You be doing that is as important as this is?  No other endeavor has worth even close to this one.

⁵ Reaffirm your determination in the shorter practice periods as well, using the original form of the idea for general application and a more specific form when needed. Some specific forms will be included in the comments. These, however, are merely suggestions. It is not the particular words you use that matter.

It is Your heart’s desire and Your diligence that matter.  Desire is prayer.

¹ Our review today will cover these ideas:

[73] I will there be light.

I will there be Light by being willing to be Light in place of ego darkness.  Light is What I am and I have let the ego block it for so many eons.  Not any longer!

² I will use the power of my will today. – Okay Brother, surely I am willing.  And I don’t wish to be willful.  So how do I distinguish? – It is not my will to grope about in darkness, fearful of shadows and afraid of things unseen and unreal. – You must consciously unite Yourself with Your Holy Spirit. Today is a perfect day to do this. For the Holy Spirit is but You illuminated!  Light shall be my guide today.  – Thus what this is really saying is that today You will make no decisions by Your little separated ego self. And You will let both Me and the Holy Spirit Guide You.  You see, We are the Light of God for You. – I will follow it where it leads me, and I will look only on what it shows me. This day I will experience the peace of true perception.

I won’t be listening to the ego.  How very restful.

³ These forms of this idea would be helpful for specific application:

Not only can You use these ideas now, at this very instant and in each challenge facing You, but in Your most ecstatic ‘earthly’ moments, transport them – right where You are – to Heaven.

⁴ This cannot hide the light I will to see.

This work is not only just for how You see Your Brother, but for Your Vision of all things You think of as mundane or even things called profane.

You stand with me in light, [name].

Just let Yourself imagine standing with Your Brother, Light Yourselves and bathed with Light, which is tantamount to saying: Love Yourselves and bathed with Love.

In the light this will look different.

Indeed, the dream would be unrecognizable; yet You will not be tempted to look that way again.

[74] There is no will but God’s.

God wills only Good, for S/He is All God.

⁵ I am safe today because there is no will but God’s. – God’s Will for Me and All is only Love. – I can become afraid only when I believe that there is another will. – For that is but a belief in evil, since God is All Good. – I try to attack only when I am afraid, and only when I try to attack can I believe that my eternal safety is threatened. – Love then is Presenced as Love, and that is perfect safety. – Today I will recognize that all this has not occurred. I am safe because there is no will but God’s.

The call is loud and clear – like hearing an alarm clock blasting through Your vain stupor.

God’s Will for Me can only be the best.

⁶ These are some useful forms of this idea for specific applications:

⁷ Let me perceive this in accordance with the Will of God.

If I’m not seeing Love, then I’m not seeing.  Thus, let Me insist upon seeing what is really here, right where I may see a sinning world full of sinning Brothers.

For it must be the Kingdom since God is here and everywhere.

It is God’s Will you are His Son, [name], and mine as well.

Lord please give Me Your eyes with which to see My ‘sinning’ Brother as Reality, as the Son of God.

This is part of God’s Will for me, however I may see it.

Thus must My prayer be answered in accord with the Will of God.
