LESSON EIGHTY-SIX

REVIEW II

¹ We are now ready for another review. We will begin where our last review left off and cover two ideas each day. The earlier part of each day will be devoted to one of these ideas, and the latter part of the day to the other. We will have one longer exercise period and frequent shorter ones in which we practice each of them.

² The longer practice periods will follow this general form: take about 15 minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the idea and the comments which are included in the assignments. Devote about three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.

While the ideas – of themselves – are quite important, the crucial part is the Listening, Our Communion.

Repeat the first phase if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the practice period listening quietly but attentively.

³ There is a message waiting for you. Be confident that you will receive it. Remember that it belongs to you and that you want it. Do not allow your intent to waver in the face of distracting thoughts. – The ego mindset is quite good at distraction. – Realize that, whatever form they take, they have no meaning and no power. – Each and every thought coming from the ego mindset is meaningless, for it comes from belief in a ‘reality’ that is non-existent. – Replace them with your determination to succeed. Do not forget that your will has power over all fantasies and dreams. – The choice is always Yours.  Choose once again until Your choice is always God and Love. – Trust it to see you through and carry you beyond them all.

⁴ Regard these practice periods as dedications to the way, the truth, and the life. Refuse to be side-tracked into detours, illusions, and thoughts of death. You are dedicated to salvation. Be determined each day not to leave your function unfulfilled.

What else could You be doing that is as important as this is?  No other endeavor has worth even close to this one.

⁵ Reaffirm your determination in the shorter practice periods as well, using the original form of the idea for general application and a more specific form when needed. Some specific forms will be included in the comments. These, however, are merely suggestions. It is not the particular words you use that matter.

It is Your heart’s desire and Your diligence that matter.  Desire is prayer.

¹ These ideas are for review today:

[71] Only God’s plan for salvation will work.

Do I think that I know better than God?  I must have, else I would not need any plan for salvation!

² It is senseless for me to search wildly about for salvation. I have seen it in many people and in many things, but when I reached for it, it was not there. I was mistaken about where it is. I was mistaken about what it is. I will undertake no more idle seeking. Only God’s plan for salvation will work. And I will rejoice because His plan can never fail.

His plan has been crafted by Love for Me and all other sleeping Brothers.  While We have slept, He has continued Loving Us so very dearly!

³ These are some suggested forms for applying this idea specifically:

⁴ God’s plan for salvation will save me from my perception of this.

God does correct all errors with His Love.   His embrace is ever-present with Me.  What have I to fear?   Not one thing at all.

This is no exception in God’s plan for my salvation.

His Plan is for Every One, not just me.  It’s Universal and it’s impartial.  And It’s full of Love.

Let me perceive this only in the light of God’s plan for salvation.

This is but another opportunity to Love, to choose now for God instead of for the ego.

[72] Holding grievances is an attack on God’s plan for salvation.

It is also an attack on You, by the ego, stating that it has the upper hand, and not You.

⁵ Holding grievances is an attempt to prove that God’s plan for salvation will not work. Yet only His plan will work. By holding grievances, I am therefore excluding my only hope of salvation from my awareness. I would no longer defeat my own best interests in this insane way. I would accept God’s plan for salvation and be happy.

While grievance may seem to bring that short term burst of satisfied self-righteousness, it is no substitute for Your happiness.

⁷ I am choosing between >misperception and salvation as I look on this.

Salvation being Vision’s clarity.

If I see grounds for grievances in this
I will not see the grounds for my salvation. This calls for salvation, not attack.

If I take one, I can’t have the other.  To attempt it I would be split-minded. One cannot embrace both Good and evil.  One always prevails.  Which one shall it be?  Choose Love or hatred.  Come down off the fence!
Take Your stand for Good.

Take Your stand for Love.
