LESSON FORTY-NINE

TRANSCRIBER’S NOTE: The Course text is in bold face. The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.

Unfortunately, I’m not listening!  For it seems far more important to control the way the dream is going that to hear the loving Voice of Reality.

Hence the reason for these daily Lessons.

¹ It is quite possible to listen to God’s Voice all through the day without interrupting your regular activities in any way.

– The key to it is simply to be mindful.  Most run by the ego move on automatic action and reaction.  This Lesson gives the opportunity to slow down the ego mind and defer to the Father-Mother.  Let God speak for You. –

The part of your mind in which truth abides is in constant communication with God, whether you are aware of it or not.

– You’re just not listening because You give the ego deference instead of God. Now I do know that some of You do listen.  Just up Your Listening to always, to hear the Voice of God through all the day. –

It is the other part of your mind that functions in the world and obeys the world’s laws. It is this part which is constantly distracted, disorganized, and highly uncertain.

It is so very frightening to think You are an ego.

Son of God, You are Loved so very much, and You go through Your days and lives unaware of how very much You are cherished.  You who are so blessèd of the Father.

Listen for His Voice, and hear His eternal Love for You in every word He speaks.

² The part that is listening to the Voice of God is calm, always at rest, and wholly certain.

– And always happy. –

It is really the only part there is.

– The Son of God You really are and that You have been hiding.–

The other part is a wild illusion, frantic and distraught, but without reality of any kind.

– An excellent description of the ego.  Would You be thus? –

Try today not to listen to it. Try to identify with the part of your mind where stillness and peace reign forever. Try to hear God’s Voice call to you lovingly, reminding you that your Creator has not forgotten His Son.

-You can but feel His Love as You open up Your heart to It.-

³ We will need at least four five-minute practice periods today and more if possible. We will try actually to hear the Voice reminding you of God and of your Self.

– This loving Voice speaks to You all the time.  You just have not let Yourself hear It.  Now, though, You are ready.–

We will approach this happiest and holiest of thoughts with confidence, knowing that in doing so we are joining our will with the Will of God. He wants you to hear His Voice. He gave It to you to be heard.

His Voice is really Your Voice too, as You will to allow it.

⁴ Listen in deep silence. Be very still, and open your mind.

– Never is the ego still or silent.–

Go past all the raucous shrieks and sick imaginings that cover your real thoughts and obscure your eternal link with God. Sink deep into the peace that waits for you beyond the frantic, riotous thoughts and sounds and sights of this insane world. You do not live there.

– The separation was insane from the beginning. Now is time to choose for God and not the ego. Choose for God and end now the despotism of the ego.–

We are trying to reach your real home. We are trying to reach the place where you are truly welcome. We are trying to reach God.

The ring, the robe, the sandals and the party do await You.  Turn Homeward.  The Father runs to meet You.₁

⁵ Do not forget to repeat today’s idea very frequently. Do so with your eyes open when necessary, but closed when possible. And be sure that you sit quietly and repeat the idea for today slowly whenever you can, closing your eyes on the world and realizing that you are inviting God’s Voice to speak to you.

Now, will You invite Yourself to hear It?
