LESSON FORTY-SIX

TRANSCRIBER’S NOTE: The Course text is in bold face. The Guidance is in normal type In His Guidance, He has asked Me to capitalize the pronouns You and We as an acknowledgement of the Divinity of All of Us, an acknowledgement of Equality, an expression of His Love and respect for You. When You see the word ‘YOU’ capitalized in the Guidance, know that He is not just speaking to YOU, He is honoring YOU.

God is the Love in which I forgive.

From these words You may understand that the Love of God is both impartial and universal, embracing Every One and everything.  For Real Love does make no distinctions.  None.  Not one.

As You see the shining of the Sun, so is the shining of His Love for Each and Every One of Us..  All things are belovèd of Our Father.

¹ God does not forgive because He has never condemned.

– He does make All Things just perfect, so why would He, how could He?  It’s ego guilt that brings condemnation. –

And there must be condemnation before forgiveness is necessary. Forgiveness is the great need of this world, but that is because it is a world of illusions.

– Therefore, both sin and guilt must be unreal.   Once You understand that, You are then able to forgive Your Brother, and Yourself as well. –

Those who forgive are thus releasing themselves from illusions, while those who withhold forgiveness are binding themselves to them. As you condemn only yourself, so do you forgive only yourself.

‘Well that’s all well and good,’ – I hear some of You thinking – ‘but how can I forgive such an evil Brother who has does heinous things to another?’

If You dreamt of things as terrible, would You be grateful when You woke and found it to be all a dream, or would You insist upon going back into the dream to punish each one of the evildoers?

Be grateful, instead, that You can Waken.

² Although God does not forgive, His Love is nevertheless the basis of forgiveness.

– Love’s Vision can only see Perfection; hence, no need for condemnation.  What is there to condemn when Love is all there is?–

Fear condemns, and love forgives.

 – Allow this Love to infill Its rightful place again as You. –

Forgiveness thus undoes what fear has produced, returning the mind to the awareness of God. For this reason, forgiveness can truly be called salvation. It is the means by which illusions disappear.

For now You are allowing Innocence to Be Your Brother!

What does it cost to forgive Your Brother?  Giving up the dream; since the evil never happened in Reality.  And how do You give up dreaming, guilt, and condemnation, that delicious perk of dreaming?

You take Me at My word.  Trust Me .  Heaven is much more delicious.  It’s … Heavenly, for lack of other words to describe such wonderful perfection, happiness and Love.  You will not be bored!

³ Today’s exercises require at least three full five-minute practice periods and as many shorter applications as possible.

–Precious to You are these five-minute rests from all resentment.–

⁴If you are doing the exercises well, you should have no difficulty in finding a number of people you have not forgiven. It is a safe rule that anyone you do not like is a suitable subject. Mention each one by name and say:

⁵God is the Love in which I forgive you, [name].

⁶The purpose of the first phase of today’s practice is to put you in the best position to forgive yourself. After you have applied the idea for today to all those who have come to mind, tell yourself,

⁷God is the Love in which I forgive myself.

⁸Then devote the remainder of the practice period to offering related ideas such as:

⁹God is the Love with which I love myself.
God is the Love in which I am blessed.

¹⁰The form of the applications may vary considerably, but the central idea should not be lost sight of. You might say, for example:

¹¹I cannot be guilty because I am a Son of God.
I have already been forgiven.
No fear is possible in a mind beloved of God.
There is no need to attack because Love has forgiven me.

¹²The practice period should end, however, with a repetition of today’s idea as originally stated.

¹³The shorter applications may consist either of a repetition of the idea for today in the original or in a related form, or in more specific applications if needed. They will be needed at any time during the day when you become aware of any kind of negative reaction to anyone, present or not. In this event, tell him silently,

¹⁴God is the Love in which I forgive you.

The willingness to Gift Your Love in this very manner does bring eternal blessings.
Feel His Love Be You.
